Born and raised in sunny San Diego, I grew up swimming, eating tacos, and taking weekly hikes along Torrey Pines! At night, I dream about returning home and throwing a bonfire on the beach with my friends. That and a trip to Balboa Park.
I graduated as a Knight from The Bishop's School in La Jolla in 2013. In addition to achieving in classes, I participated in Academic League, swam on the varisity swim team, and performed in school musicals. During summers I volunteered as a summer camp counselor at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center.
The summer after graudating high school, I traveled to Kunming, Yunnan Province in China to work with a free non-profit summer camp. Many poorer families in rural parts of China do not adhere to the One-Child Policy, so second-born children do not have registration or hukou (戶口) in order to attend school. Camp Hope is a way to allow these children to enjoy the experience of being in a classroom, making friends, and most importantly hope in a future through education. Through teaching music, crafts, drama and english, I experienced from the brightness and eagerness to learn in these kids a joy incomparable to anything before.
I am currently a third year student pursuing a double major in statistics and computer science. Outside of classes, I directed a troupe in Asian American themed drama and served as historian for Theatre Rice. I am currently a graphic and web designer for Innovative Design, an on-campus student-run organization that services the surrounding community through design, photography, and videography. I also work at the campus Student Learning Center as a tutor in math and statistics.
